Eureka

I finally got around to editing some photos I took from a near by ghost town, Eureka. I tried to experiment more with my camera, working with different settings to see what I could come up with.I tried to focus these more on color, but the colors didn't transfer as well onto here, but you can get the general idea.

One cross...two different ways.

Never dull around here

Well, another ridiculous day in my life. Going to a shady area in the woods to take photos of graffiti for an assignment for my photojournalism class, I ended up having a little spill. We had been taking photos only for a little while, when I ran into a chunk of rusty metal hanging from a piece of rebar coming out of a torn apart staircase... and promptly split my forehead a little bit.

We then got myself cleaned up a little bit and made a trip to the emergancy room to prevent me from getting tetnis or some other crazy disease..like lock-jaw for example. And this is the doctor gluing my face back together.
The assignment was a photo of someone in their environment, and this was the final product of my assignment:

I then came home and somehow made my way to the BYU vs. New Mexico football game with a wad of glue in my hair and a concussion.

Multi-nationality

Sunday night there was a Law Symposium on international law on religious freedom. It was fascinating to see the people from literally all over the world. They made a joke that there were more languages available due to the on campus translations than at the UN. Behind the main speaker is just a list of some of the languages available for the speeches on religious freedom and how religion can be used to help politics, how you can use religious leaders to help better your community.

Homecoming was also kicked off this week with a jazz band, Men's Chorus, the marching band, and many speakers, including two Olympic athletes who go to BYU (a man who threw the discus for Sweden and another who played volleyball for Venezuela).

BYU vs. THe Skatin Utes of the University of Utah

I think by far my favorite sport to watch is ice hockey. There is something just so beautiful and exciting about it. I have also learned that it is one of the most difficult to photograph as well. The puck is small and the ice is white and the lighting is strange. But I was able to manage and got the hang of it toward the end.
