Satan's Land: Large Format

A contact print I made in my Advanced Black and White class in which we have to use a large format 4x5 camera. Apparently I photograph this place a lot (exhibit A, exhibit B)

Working Identities flier(s)

Two options for my flier handout for my show going up in the library. Or maybe I'll put them together and have a double one. Could be sweet. It goes up on Monday for all of November. Send your address my way if you want this mailed to you!

Becky and Travis Pitcher|10 October

Recently I got to photograph Becky and Travis's wedding. I did their engagements a while back on my Holga and was excited for another round of beautiful images (and another excuse to use my favorite plastic camera, of course). I can tell my Holga is starting to wear down and break in to what it's supposed to be doing by the crazier the pictures are turning out. I'm quite excited for what it'll do next. But here are the photographs, both film and digital, and thanks and congratulations to the newly married couple!

Interpretative Self Portriat

For my digital photography class I had to do an interpretative self portrait. For a while now I've wanted to do one with a kite because I am fascinated by the things that they can symbolize. One thing in particular that I feel like they represent is dreams and thus, ambition. I feel like frequently I get too caught up in my dreams, ambitions, the future and it often ties me down thinking so much about these things. So this is my self portrait, tied up by the kite.

Three Childhood Friends

Earlier this month one of my best friends from growing up came into town. I hadn't seen her in over a year because she moved to England and that makes things just a little difficult for us to really hang out. We spent the day in Salt Lake with another good friend of ours and just played around. I obviously took lots of dumb pictures of us that nobody on the blog cares to see, but here are a few shots from the day that I felt were blog worthy.

Magazine Cover Assignment

For my most recent assignment that I turned in for digital photography is a photo of ours on a magazine cover that we would love to be on. I couldn't come up with anything that I was sold on, until I saw this magazine with a cover photo of Helen Levitt and an image from her series spanned throughout her life of children on the streets of New York City. I love her and the quality of work in this magazine, so I decided that this would be the magazine that I would love to one day be on the cover of.

Working Identities Exhibit, Sugarhouse (Salt Lake)

This weekend I had my art up in an exhibit in Sugarhouse, a small district in Salt Lake. The location was awesome, set in an old warehouse converted into an art space. It was great fun, getting to exhibit with a few other extremely talented artists, raising money for refugees from Nepal. There was music and dancing along with delicious foods and teas. It was a long night, but it went really well. Starting November 2, this same exhibit will be in the BYU library, so be looking out for that incase you missed it this weekend.

Art Show! Art Show!

This weekend I'm having my first art show! There an event in Sugar House (in Salt Lake City) this weekend for a fundraiser for Nepal. The gallery that started this annual event has upgraded to a larger space and now will be having it at 2110 S. 1100 E. at the Leisure Living Warehouse. It's from 5-10, but I'm sure you can come and go as you please. There'll be food, events, and a silent auction. Oh, and my art of course. I'm having a 12-piece series of documentart photography from the Dominican Republic that I shot. I came in last minute, hense the reason why I'm not on the flier, but I promise I'll be there with a large exhibit space. So come, it'll be wonderful.

Travel Photo of the Day on Kathika

Every day Kathika.com has a travel photo of the day. Generally it's people from their team that post their images or they get images they find on flicker. Today, however, I sent them a link to my blog and one of my images from the Dominican Republic is their daily pick. So go check it out!

Why It Sucks To Be Me

Another digital photography class assignment shot on my new favorite film: Velvia 100.The assignment was either why it is awesome to be me or why it sucks. I figured why it sucks was a lot more exciting.

People. (and some art of mine on display!)

My most recent assignment in my digital photography class was to photograph the person that is most important to me. I don't have any family close by and I decided that everyone will photograph their roommates, so I decided to be a little bit more abstract and photograph these two girls who I work with. I decided to photograph the people that comprise of the family created by the community of people who come to and work at Juice n Java with me. These are Jordan and Michelle, part of my current, make-shift family.

Also. Speaking of Juice n Java. I have a collect of my photographs up there for the whole month of October. Every month they feature a local artist, and I am October. So come, get something fantastic to drink, and look at my art. 280 W. 100 N. Provo, Utah.
